Stuck between writing for clarity and writing for legacy, I am doing both at the same time in attempting to explain axiomatic macrosociology. I guess from that you might predict that I am not quite 60, but as someone said, we are not checking my ID card at the door.
And I've never watched "Casa Blanca." I probably should have watched Casablanca though. 😉
Georgia, your article is beautifully written and a pleasure to read on this day when snowflakes float to the ground and my fireplace cheerfully sparks. I enjoy how you weave your words with the finesse of a classical music director. Thank you. Thank you.Thank you.
How very perceptive and original, Gloria. I've never said it in public, until now. I combined my background as a musical prodigy and orchestra conductor (teenage years) with my study in journalism and career with words to do exactly what you just felt. The story needs to play like a symphony that delights your brain because there is no noise--only the total synchronization of words, ideas, feelings, facts, visuals, and the audience dancing or tapping their feet to the rhythm.
Thanks so much for including me, Georgia. It was a pleasure collaborating with you and seeing how thoughtfully you approached this piece. You’ve crafted an insightful article that I’m sure will resonate with many. Grateful to have contributed alongside other talented writers - excited to see how Inkspired continues to support and inspire its growing community!
So you want to use the, tell three and they will tell three. I call this the Medium approach. Sort of like follow for follow. Anyway, quite frankly, I will let Inkspired grow without me.
Randy, I have to disagree. Follow-for-follow is an agreement between members over there who do not wish to put in the work but want to reap the benefits (those that may still be left). Tell three people is a proven growth strategy that has been used successfully for decades. Here's the key difference--it's implied that you will only tell three people if you find the community valuable. We hope that members who feel satisfied here will want to share the experience with people they like. I have zero interest in expanding membership metrics just to expand them. If we stay at 75 forever and those 75 are engaged and happy, I love it. Our response, engagement, and readership numbers are off the charts. Ten thousand members who never participate wouldn't be much of a community. The 75 we have who are fully engaged are a treasure to me.
Randy, communities grow from within as the tribe finds safety and intellectual growth as members learn from each other
Your reference to Medium is a platform approach and external—driven by the platform need for advertisers. That’s not the design or intention in Substack.
Have you never experienced the benefits and growth as an active participant and facilitator in a thriving community? You may know much you can teach us.
If you benefit from this new community we would like for you to speak with 3 other writers and invite them to subscribe. Growth will happen if members drive the referrals. What do you suggest as a growth goal? How long did it take for your Substack to reach the first 1000?

Wonderful call for writers who embrace where they are and what they have to offer. I’m honored to be among you.

I will be interested to know how many new members you get from this post.

I appreciate this explanation--it's spot on. And anyone with something to teach us is invited to chime right in. I love to learn!

VERY nice piece, Georgia. Clear, concise, compelling. Congratulations on a strong recruitment call.
