What a terrific story, Maryan! I am totally stealing that idea the next time I have a problem to solve. I’m reminded of the story of the large vehicle that was so tall it got stuck trying to go under an overpass. Lots of people tried to figure out ways to get it unstuck, And finally a little boy from the sidelines suggested they let the some of the air out of the tires to lower the height of the vehicle. A change in perspective can be powerful :-)
That's another good one! The river parable was rattling in my head one day and I decided to write about it. You're right, a shift in mindset causes good things.
I think as I'm aging I'm not choosing the right goals. Especially those that will sustain. I don't have a solution right now. At some point I'll wipe my slate(s) clean and start over fresh. Everything is kind of stale to me now, anyway.
Patti, sometimes when I feel stale, I find any kind of perspective change helps…step back, think micro instead of macro, pretend you’re someone else and imagine what their perspective would be. Or just try something new: cook a new recipe, try a new food, read a different genre than usual, buy a scarf with a different color than you usually wear. Hope that helps.
Elizabeth, thank you so much for your wonderful words and suggestions. I like the micro instead of macro perspective. I'll try it. And yes, this helps. :)
Love all of it. But especially that name, Thynk Byg 😄.
PS A racehorse 🏇 named Think Big (alternative spelling) won the Melbourne Cup way back when I was a kid. That's the race that "stops a nation" in Australia - and the day is even a public holiday in Melbourne, Victoria! I remember our family sitting at the kitchen table listening to the wireless radio as Think Big won the race. Funny how something like 'Thynk Byg' can trigger a childhood memory like that.
Mike, when my writing causes a thought process in someone's mind, I feel so rewarded. What a cool memory for you. I liked the name Thynk Big, too--made me chuckle.
Great piece!
I love to use strong visuals for problem-solving. This one will stick! Thanks, Maryan.
Such a truly EXCELLENT posting!!! Rock on!!!
Wow! thanks and i'm glad you liked it

Isn’t it fun to be reminded of something from long ago?.
